Repair fabrics for inflatable boats (CSM/CR)

Yes. ORCA fabrics suit Hypalon (CSM/CR) tubes of every brand: Zodiac, Bombard, BRIG, Highfield, 3D Tender, AB Inflatables, Capelli, Nuova Jolly, Joker Boat, Zar Formenti, Grand, Valiant, Avon, Ribeye… They are not suitable for PVC tubes, which are repaired with PVC materials and PVC glue.

PVC is a plastic; Hypalon (CSM/CR) is a synthetic rubber. Hypalon stands up better to UV, heat, fuel and abrasion, and is easy to repair by cold bonding. A well-maintained Hypalon tube lasts much longer and keeps a better resale value. PVC is lighter and cheaper to buy.

The main criterion is the length of the boat. The safest choice is to match the quality of the original fabric.

• Under 5 m: ORCA 820 (1140 g/m²)
• Up to 6 m: ORCA 828 (1340 g/m²)
• Over 6 m or professional use: ORCA 866 (1565 g/m², ISO 6185 certified)

For the internal baffles of the tube: ORCA 261 664 NB. To reinforce areas that rub: TECH 288 sheet.

By the linear metre, in a 145 cm width: 1 metre = 100 × 145 cm. Fabric is sold from 1 metre: enter the number of metres as the quantity.

There is no quantity limit: above 15 metres, the length of one roll, the order is delivered in several pieces (for example 15 m + 9 m for 24 m), or in a single piece if a long enough roll is available in stock.

It depends on the fabric: 4 colours for ORCA 820, more than 40 for ORCA 828 and more than 50 for ORCA 866, in several finishes (smooth, Non Buffing, Fabric Impression, Carbon, Perlage, Matt, Honeycomb). To choose, see the colour chart or order the colour sample daisy, which holds a sample of every colour.

A two-part neoprene glue: ORCA Glue mixed with ORCA RFE hardener, or the glue + hardener kit. Glue between 17 and 28 °C, in dry weather, in two coats. The mix must be used within about an hour. PVC glue does not hold on Hypalon. Full details are in our gluing guide (PDF, in French).

It lets air escape when the pressure in the tube gets too high, for example when the boat heats up in the sun. It prevents damage to the seams and baffles. See the CEREDI pressure relief valve and our inflation valves.

It is an EPDM rubber profile, bonded to the tube with ORCA neoprene glue, that protects it from knocks and rubbing against pontoons, quays and rocks. See our rubbing strakes.

Clean it with a degreaser (New Magic or Nautic Clean 07), treat mould with Shmuffex, then protect it from UV with a wax such as Gumemp100. Degreasing is also essential before any gluing. See all our maintenance products.
