ABOUT THIS ITEM

The CEREDI rope guide (also called a lifeline patch or rope fairlead) is an EPDM rubber part glued to the side of the tube of a RIB or tender. The rope that runs round the boat, the lifeline, passes through it: it stays taut along the tube, so it can be grabbed both on board and from the water. Several are fitted, evenly spaced, on each tube.

  • What it is for: guiding and holding the lifeline, or replacing a torn-off or damaged rope guide.
  • Material: EPDM rubber, resistant to UV, weather and abrasion.
  • Dimensions: 95 × 95 mm base, height 40 mm, 17 mm diameter rope hole.
  • Colours: black, light grey RAL 7035 or medium grey RAL 7038.
  • Fitting: glued to a Hypalon (CSM/CR) tube with neoprene adhesive + hardener.

Fitting or replacing a rope guide

  1. Remove the old rope guide if there is one, then clean and degrease the area, for example with New Magic.
  2. Keep the original position and spacing, so the lifeline stays taut along the tube.
  3. Bond it with ORCA® Glue neoprene adhesive mixed with RFE hardener, or with the glue + hardener kit, following the ORCA gluing guide (PDF, in French).
  4. Press the base firmly and leave to dry before threading and tensioning the rope.

Frequently asked questions

What is a rope guide for on a RIB?

It guides and holds the lifeline along the tube, so that it stays within reach and does not hang loose.

How many rope guides are needed?

It depends on the length of the tubes. Keep your boat's original number and spacing, or space them evenly along the whole length.

What rope diameter?

The hole is 17 mm in diameter: choose a thinner rope so that it slides through.

Can it be glued to a PVC tube?

It is designed for Hypalon (CSM/CR) tubes and is bonded with neoprene adhesive. For a PVC tube, contact us before ordering.

Complete the tube fittings with EPDM handles, tube end cones and CEREDI valves. All our rope guides are in the EPDM rope guides collection.
