  • Contents: 1 litre of ORCA® Glue and 54 g of ORCA® RFE hardener.
  • Compatible with: Hypalon neoprene tubes of all brands (Zodiac, Bombard, BRIG, Highfield, Capelli, Nuova Jolly…).

Gluing a patch: the ORCA method

  1. Work between 17 and 28 °C, with relative humidity below 70%.
  2. Sand both surfaces in one direction only, to remove the shine without reaching the fabric weave. Brush off the dust.
  3. Clean with solvent (MEK or toluene), then wait 10 minutes.
  4. Mix the glue with 5 to 10% RFE hardener. For more than 10 litres of mix, keep the hardener at 5%. The mix can be used for about 1 hour.
  5. Apply a first coat to both surfaces and wait at least 10 to 15 minutes, until the glue no longer sticks to your finger.
  6. Apply a second coat to both surfaces, wait 10 minutes, then join the parts while the glue is still tacky.

Full details are in the ORCA gluing guide (PDF, in French) and in our article changing or repairing a RIB tube.

Frequently asked questions

Is the hardener really needed?

Yes. ORCA® Glue is a two-part adhesive: the hardener gives it its adhesion, cohesion and heat resistance.

How much glue for 1 m²?

Allow about 250 to 300 g of glue per m².

How long can the mix be used?

About 1 hour. Only prepare the quantity you need for the gluing session.

Which fabric should I use with this kit?

An ORCA Hypalon fabric suited to the size of the boat: ORCA 820 under 5 m, ORCA 828 up to 6 m, ORCA 866 above that and for professional use.
